A dear friend of mine once pointed out how I often start my stories with "I met this person the other day" and ever since I've become far more aware of the people I meet. Stefanie is the first person I met on this journey. Stefanie and her 11 year old daughter sat next to me on the plane. Needless to say I wasn't aware of their presence until we landed. I was passed out! We chatted after landing and I found out that she is a true road warrior! It was her fifth business trip this week! You know the type that's always on the run that's her. She wa super kind by offering her contact info and old me if I ever run into financial problems while away to give her a call. Who does that?! So I promised to send her pics of my adventures in return.

On the second leg of my trip I again sit next woman and her 2 daughters. Meet Ana, Maria and Catherine! They're from Guatemala City and moved to Kansas recently. As I sat down next to Ana she immediately started speaking Spanish to me. If she only had given me 3 more months I coulda responded. Luckily she's been studying English for the past 2 months. At take off she was struggling to fill out her customs form with Catherine, her 18-month daughter, on her lap. So I offered to hold her while she fill out the foms. Catherine is so adorable and she didn't mind me holding her. She actually stayed in my lap throughout takeoff. Maria was busy playing with her Nintendo DS.

Ana and I chatted the whole time and she offered me her contact info and told me if I ever run into trouble, get sick or need any sort of help to call her right away. What's up with all these generous people! She said she might come to Antigua, where I´ll be staying, to meet her cousin for lunch. Maybe 'll meet up with her and her cousin this weekend!

Let's hope I keep meeting those type of people. I think if I do then I'll have nothing to worry about!

I've been excited about this trip for quite some time now, months to be precise but for some reasonI refused to plan any of it until a few days before my departure date. I keep telling myself that I just want to go and not plan anything but maybe part of me didn't want to leave Boston for that long! My last day in Boston was insane! I actually left a few errands behind for a numnber of friends. I am forever thankful to them for assuming my burden! I am sorry I chose to hang out over finishing up my errands on my last night. It was well worth it.

I went to my favorite place in Boston, Habib's Lounge. Not only that I love the place but I thnik it's my favorite because of the friends I made there. You guys make me feel home when I'm there! I was really surprised by the number of people who came to wish me safe travels. It was all planned a few hours before going there! I love you all and I couldn't have thought of a better way to spend my last evening in Boston before heading out for 3 months.

That night I did not sleep at all. I was packing (a carry-on only for the next 3 months), sorting through my emergency medical kit and doing laudry! I was so busy that I didn't make it on time to meet a friend for breakfast. I am glad my friend decided to meet before I left. It was wonderful reconneting after 10 years!

Well I'm off to start my journey and hopefully you will be part of it even if remotly!
